How do you feel about Sarah Palin?

Lauren asked:

I am voting tomorrow and I still am not sure who I want to vote for. I really don’t like either candidate but I would have voted for McCain if he had not picked Sarah Palin as a running mate. It would have been no question who I was voting for if it were not for her, but she seems very unintelligent and not capable of running a country.

She is also very religious and even though I am religious also, I believe that there should be separation between church and state.

She also, to me, seems really strange like her hunting wolves from helicopters, her getting blessed to keep witch craft away, and her answers in most of her interviews.

I do not think she is capable of running a country and if McCain passes away we would be stuck with her, and I’m not sure if it is worth the risk.

Obama is okay. I do think, however, that he often just talks about nothing and doesn’t say anything really constructive or informative. I also do not like the flag burnings he attended and the fact that he wants to change our democracy. It also concerns me that he wont pledge the flag or support the flag .. I find this completely unpatriotic and the president of the United States should support what we stand for and our country.

What do you think?
This was in the Washington Post

Senator Obama Live on Sunday states, ‘As I’ve said about the flag pin, I don’t want to be perceived as taking sides, Obama said. ‘There are a lot of people in the world to whom the American flag is a symbol of oppression. And the anthem itself conveys a war-like message. You know, the bombs bursting in air and all. It should be swapped for something less parochial and less bellicose. I like the song ‘I’d Like To Teach the World To Sing.’ If that were our anthem, then I might salute it.’We should consider to reinvent our National Anthem as well as to redesign our Flag to better offer our enemies hope and love. It’s my intention, if elected, to disarm America to the level of acceptance to our Middle East Brethren. If we as a Nation of warring people, should conduct ourselves as the nations of Isla m, whereas peace prevails. “

Palin makes me feel scared…quite scared.
and when did Obama refuse to “support the flag”?

  • John D:

i don’t think she was a good choice for mccain.

  • heyhelpme41:

The Vice President doesn’t have all that much power. If you dislike Palin as much as you do Obama, remember that Obama will have much more of an impact.

  • You Betcha!:

She sure is dandy, don’t cha know. You betcha. *wink*

  • Sassy One:

What flag burnings? If you go on youtube, you can see Obama leading the Pledge on the Senate floor.

Sarah Palin may be a nice person, but she is one 72 years old heartbeat away from the Oval Office. She just is not ready.

  • lizi g:

sarah palin is an incompetent fool who doesnt care about people’s rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. and that, my friend, is unpatriotic.

  • Paul:

Do what you think is right.

  • Star:

I like Sarah, she hasn’t been in the government long enough to forget what it is like being an average citizen. She has a head on her shoulders and uses it.

  • Kora:

This woman lacks basic world knowledge… she could potentially become President! …

  •  :

I think she’d do great in DC, and she was just cleared of the so called “Troopergate” garbage yet again.http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2008/11/sarah-palin-tro.html

If someone in my family tazered their kid as her X brother in-law did to his son, I wouldent be as nice as Palin was to him.

  • TAT:

First of all, you are voting for the president–not the VP. Second, just bc she loves her God and prays and believes in the sanctity of life and thinks the Bible is true, does not mean she is not intelligent. Third, She has experience running a town, a state, and a business. OBama has no experience. He was elected in Illinois after he had his opponents disqualified and there was no one left on the ballot. Obama believes in rewarding those who do not invest by punishing those who do. Obama hangs around with **** mongerers, terrorists, crooks, and communists. Obama thinks China is a great country!. I think maybe Biden could do something that would not permanently ruin our country if something happened to Obama, but I am not counting on that. McCain;s mother is still living. I would think longevity runs in his family. Obama only has “solutions” that will bankrupt our country, leave us open for terror attacks, and ruin our education system.

Kora, it is Obama who thought there were 58 states in the union and thought a bomb was dropped in Pearl Harbor.

  • Owl:

Never in all the Presidential elections have I ever considered the VP.
Thats too much to ask for.

I agree with you totally : Obama is okay. I do think, however, that he often just talks about nothing and doesn’t say anything really constructive or informative

  • Ed:

Put your faith in the Lord and trust in your heart. Mine tells me to vote Ron Paul even if I have to ask for a paper ballot. I will.

  • wannaknow:

In less than 24 hours, Palin will be trivia question.

  • cindyann45@sbcglobal.net:

I think you should get some fair coverage on Sara Palin she is brilliant I have listened to her from the Fox network and they don’t make fun of her only the democrat stations do! McCain is with your heart Obama is in your head if you are where I am I see there is no way he is going to carry out any of his plans its simple math! I also was raised you are who you know and Obama has had a shady past! Flip back and forth on the TV from Fox and Cnn and then make a decision! That’s what I did I cant believe there is not a news station that is totally just into facts they leave all of us kind of hanging! Go McCain/Palin 2008 Pro Life!

  • Lo W:

Honestly, Sarah Palin scares the heck out of me. I watched the Vice-Presidential debates (among other things) and she didn’t once say anything that really grabbed me or made me think, “now she’s an articulate and strong female”. NOT ONCE. Plus, I’ve seen too many shows and have seen her contradict herself on the same subjects. I know this is a folly of most politicians, but she just bugs me. I think she’s trying too hard to get in good with “Joe Blow” or whatever her catch phrase is, that she’s underestimating the intelligence of the public. I don’t like that, and I don’t like her either.

  • sunshine baby:

I think Palin would be a great president for the PTA. i dont think she would be too good at leading a country. I think she would be nice in person but like my mom.
I dont like McCain at all. Throughout his entire campaign people have been telling what to do. He didnt even pick Sarah Palin, someone did it for him. That shows alot about what his presidency might be like. I think he would be just a puppet to the republican party and if you didnt like things under Bush than you wouldnt like it any better if McCain was elected

  • Hnst1:

I voted 3rd party because I don`t believe either candidate is good for us, but Obama is better than McCain if you must vote for one of these two. McCain shot his foot off when he chose Sara for a running mate. She comes across way too valley girl or PTA to me. Sounds inexperienced, her speeches need lots of work. You Betcha!

I believe in the McCain/Palin ticket. Sarah is a very intelligent, caring, patriotic and strong lady. I believe she will be a great vice-president.
    You go, Sarah!!!!

  • John Steed:

There is nothing in the Constitution saying that will be a separation of church and state. One of the the founding principles and the reason that people came to this country was to have freedom of worship. One cannot really be expected to leave their beliefs at the doorstep simply because they are elected to office. If you forced people to adopt a particular religion, that would not be acceptable. But not being allowed to follow your own is intolerable.

  • CC2759:

I think you should vote for McCain and here’s why:
Palin was a mayor for 7 yrs and a governor for 2.
That may not seem like a lot, but it’s more executive experience than Obama and Biden combined. Obama’s only been a Senator for a few more months than Palin’s been governor. A matter of fact, he casted a vote only 291 days, the equivalent of 9 months- if he were an athlete you’d call him a rookie. Also true, Obama has never run anything. Palin’s run a state, balancing a budget, even has military experience- read this:

“Alaska is the first line of defense in our missile interceptor defense system. The 49th Missile Defense Battalion of the Alaska National Guard is the unit that protects the entire nation from ballistic missile attacks. It’s on permanent active duty, unlike other Guard units.

As governor of Alaska, Palin is briefed on highly classified military issues, homeland security, and counterterrorism. Her exposure to classified material may rival even Biden’s.

She’s also the commander in chief of the Alaska State Defense Force (ASDF), a federally recognized militia incorporated into Homeland Security’s counterterrorism plans.

Palin is privy to military and intelligence secrets that are vital to the entire country’s defense. Given Alaska’s proximity to Russia, she may have security clearances we don’t even know about.

According to the Washington Post, she first met with McCain in February, but nobody ever found out. This is a woman used to keeping secrets.

She can be entrusted with our national security, because she already is.”
Third, she has a diverse background of experience as a professional journalist, city council woman, Mayor, Governor and Mother of 5.

Fourth, she has gotten a lot done and has an incredible record for only being a Governor for 2 years. She has vetoed 300 spending proposals and has an 80% approval rating in Alaska.

Fifth, she knows what she thinks and is very articulate, attractive, passionate, idealistic and courageous. She has shown enormous courage with her oldest son going off to serve in the military and her youngest son having downs syndrome.

Sixth, she is a very competent person with a compelling story.

Seventh, she should never be underestimated. She defeated the incumbent when she ran for Mayor and she defeated the incumbent Republican Governor in the primary before going on to defeat the Democrat in the general election.

    And I don’t know if you’re pro-life or pro-choice, but read this:
Obama promised Planned Parenthood the 1st thing he’ll do in office is sign the Freedom of Choice Act- making abortion legal in all 3 trimesters for whatever reason. And he’d be able to do it with a Democratic Congress. He blocked the Born Alive Infant Protection Act which would have given babies that survived abortion medical care, he BLOCKED it. Is that anything less than infanticide?

So when you go to the polls tomorrow, vote McCain- for the good of the country!
