It is not just the people’s fault, because many of them were duped into believing they could afford the mortgages that the lenders were FORCED to make. Obama also had a hand in this, since he has threatened lenders with lawsuits if they did not have sufficient low income qualifying mortgages. Most lenders were forced into this situation, and I’m not so sure that the timing of this whole mess was coincidental. Without the economy in the hole, Obama would have a really difficult time pulling off a victory.

In 2003 the republicans controlled both Houses of Congress and the White House. There wasn’t any legislation that the democrats could stop. Why wasn’t it done, because neither party wanted it done.
It is that simple.
I don’t think any one wants to answer your question. Unfortunately nothing will happen to Barney or any of the other people involved in this mess. The Democrats are not going to conduct an investigation because some of the key players were Democrats so they can’t point the finger at the Republicans with out involving their own people .
Frank was the committee chair. He made the proposal. Congress had to pass it and Bush had to sign it. A lot of people took out loans they couldn’t afford. There were some unscrupulous lenders making these loans. These lenders turned around and sold the loans to the banks. The banks bought them. There are a lot of people who are responsible for the mess we are in. It’s easy to single out one person when looking for a scapegoat.
Oh, this one is simple! Because he’s a Democrat! You see, most liberals have few morals, and even less of a conscience, so it’s no problem for them to completely glaze over their own failings. They are so filled with **** and vitriol, they could watch any Senator being beheaded on the Whitehouse lawn, and it would be perfectly ok as long as it was a Republican!
